Medically indicated massage is a style of massage that is corrective in nature. The therapist will assess the patient’s condition and level of pain and apply specific modalities to correct the unbalance. Pain is viewed as the symptom; not necessarily the problem. Therefore, determining the underlying cause of the pain and correcting that is the goal of medically indicated massage. It is outcome-based massage with specific treatment protocols targeted to the problem areas as diagnosed by the patient's referring physician. The medical massage therapist will offer an assessment and evaluation and will outline specific outcomes as the basis for treatment. In many cases, this type of massage therapy is billed through the patient's insurance, which could be health, auto or workers' compensation. We will handle submit your treatment to your insurance company on your behalf.

Be Well Body Works partners with Colorado Occupational Health Physicians, physiatrist neurologists, orthopedists, general practitioners, osteopaths and chiropractors to provide result oriented medical massage treatment for soft tissue injuries.

What is required for treatment?
In order for your treatment to be covered under insurance, a health care provider must prescribe medical massage therapy and provide a diagnosis. Medical Massage therapy is focused only on the areas of the body related to the diagnosis and prescription. The therapy is generally billed in 15-minute segments using current procedural terminology and adhering to the usual and customary reimbursement fee schedule. Non-prescribed medical massage therapy is also provided by us but is handled on a fee-for-service basis.
