We use our feet on your back and use our heels, instep and toes to apply deep and constant pressure to the back, gluteus, hamstrings and calves. From the words ‘ashi’ (meaning foot), and ‘atsu’ (meaning pressure), ashiatsu is based on a Swedish technique and the principles of Chinese medicine stating that good health is dependent on the balanced flow of vitality in the body. This massage is great for reducing muscle pain and for those with tight ligaments and sore shoulders and hips. Pressure is applied with the feet, working on tension areas and to release areas of pain with focused movement.
When receiving this massage, you will lie on a table and undress to your comfort level. The practitioner will use her feet, and you can expect deep relaxation. Your heart rate and blood pressure may decrease and your body’s natural pain relievers, endorphins, will be released. After your session, you will likely experience an increase in flexibility and a decreases in aches and pains. Asian forms of bodywork have become more respected therapies working in tandem with western medicine.
We are among a select group of 1,500 therapists in the country who are certified in this technique.
